Russia’s war on Ukraine. 06.07.2024

In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) “Kharkiv” the enemy attacked 5 times near Hlyboke and Lyptsi on the Kharkiv direction. Three enemy assaults were successfully repelled, and the battle continues in the Hlyboke area.

In the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance five times near Synkivka. Four of these attacks were repelled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and the battle continues. On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 21 times in the areas of Nevske, the Serebriansk Forest, Hrekivka, Makiivka, and Terny.  On the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted to break through the defense seven times in the areas of Bilohorivka, Spirne, and Vyimka but was unsuccessful. On the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy’s activity was limited to 6 engagements. Four attacks in the areas of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Chasiv Yar were repelled, with the invaders suffering losses and retreating. The situation remains tense, with fighting ongoing near Kalynivka.

In the “Tavriya” OSG operational zone, ,” the enemy was most active onthe Pokrovsk direction. The invaders attempted to breach the Ukrainian defense 38 times in the areas of Novoselivka Persha, Prohres, Yevhenivka, Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Yasnobrodivka, Vozdvyzhenka, and Netaylove. So far, 25 enemy attacks have been repelled. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking measures to stabilize the situation and prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory. The invaders concentrate their efforts on advancing towards Novooleksandrivka and Novoselivka Persha. On the Kurakhove and Vremivka directions, the enemy attacked the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions 7 times, showing the most activity near Kostyantynivka. The invaders unsuccessfully stormed the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions twice on the Orikhiv direction in the area of Mala Tokmachka.

In the operational zone of the “Odesa” OSG, the situation on the Prydniprovskiy direction has not undergone significant changes. Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled five attacks by Russian invaders on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

General conclusion:

  • On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces conduct constant assaults with small infantry groups towards Borova, periodically employing armored vehicles and non-lethal chemical weapons.
  • After suffering significant losses on the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces halted their assaults and increased the number of UAV strikes.
  • On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces increasingly use assault groups of 2-3 people, which is a result of the effective work of the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ weaponry. The enemy’s assault groups try to find weak points in the of the “Tavriya” OSG defenses, essentially conducting reconnaissance attacks than assault actions.

Change in the line of contact (LoC):

  • There were 119 combat engagements on various fronts.
  • On the Kharkiv direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to detect and destroy elements of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in Sotnytsky Kozachok, counterattacking in the areas of Lyptsi, Hlyboke, and Tykhe.
  • Russian forces have advanced into the center of Vovchansk. The enemy regularly introduces additional units into battle to rotate those that have lost combat capability.
  • On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces have captured Stepova Novoselivka and continued their advance in the areas of Synkivka and Stelmakhivka.
  • On the Lyman direction, battles continued near Nevske, Makiivka, Hrekivka, Terny, and in the area of the Serebriansk Forest.
  • On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces continued their advance near Siversk in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, and Vyimka.
  • On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces intensify their efforts near Kurdyumivka, operating on foot without armored support, and attack near Kalynivka, Hryhorivka, within the “Novyi” neighborhood, and near Ivanivske and Klishchiivka.
  • On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces have advanced in the southern part of Pivnichne and the southern part of New York, capturing Yuriivka, advancing in the area of Druzhba, within Pivnichne, and attacking near Druzhba, Pivnichne, New York, Yuriivka, and Zalizne.
  • On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces have advanced to the northwest and southwest of Novooleksandrivka, north of Sokol, within Yevhenivka, between Sokol and Novopokrovske, north of Umanske, and near Karlivka. Battles continue on the eastern outskirts of Voskhod, as well as in the areas of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Lozuvatka, Yevhenivka, Prohres, Voskhod, Novoselivka Persha, Yasnobrodivka, Netaylove, Karlivka, and Nevelske.
  • On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces have advanced north of Paraskoviivka, reaching the outskirts of Kostyantynivka and near Heorhiivka. Battles continued in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka, Vodyane, and Volodymyrivka.
  • On the Vremivka direction, battles continued in the area of Staromayorske, Urozhaine, and Makarivka.
  • On the Orikhiv direction, battles continued near Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka.
  • On the Prydniprovskiy direction, positional battles continued on the eastern bank of Kherson Oblast, including near Krynky. Fighting also continues on the islands in the Dnipro River delta. The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the base of the 66th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 49th Combined Arms Army near Nova Kakhovka.
  • In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
    • Azov Sea: 3 ships, including 0 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 0 cruise missiles.
    • Mediterranean Sea: 2 ships, including 2 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 24 cruise missiles.
  • The Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a missile and aviation strike using UAVs and cruise missiles on the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airbase in the Krasnodar Krai, Russia. As a result of the strike, power supply was disrupted in certain areas of the city, and losses were inflicted on the infrastructure and aircraft of the 960th Assault Aviation Regiment of the 1st Mixed Air Division of the 4th Air and Air Defense Forces (losses are being clarified).

Changes in the enemy disposition:

  • The 6th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps was spotted near Bilohorivka.
  • The 9th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade is engaged in combat near Karlivka.
  • The 238th Artillery Brigade of the 8th Army is engaged in combat near Krasnohorivka.
  • The 56th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Air Assault Division is operating in the “Dnepr” Operational Grouping zone. Units of the “Yug-Akhmat” Battalion participate in assaults near Novoandriivka. Units of the 69th Separate Cover Brigade of the 35th Army operate near Dorozhnyanka.

Possible operation situation developments:

  • In the near future, the enemy will attempt to capture the crossing over the Chornyi Zherebets River in Makiivka and will try to attack the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces units in the directions of Makiivka – Nevske and Chervonopopivka – Nevske. For this purpose, the 252nd Motorized Rifle Regiment and the 237th Tank Regiment of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Division and separate units of the 59th Tank Regiment of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division will be reinforced by other units of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division (likely from the 283rd Motorized Rifle Regiment), which have been regrouped here from the south.
  • The most probable scenario for the assault on Chasiv Yar is considered to be a breakthrough between the T0504 Kostyantynivka – Bakhmut highway and the “Novyi” neighborhood in the direction of the latter, primarily acting with assault groups through the wooded area to the south of the neighborhood. An auxiliary attack direction could be along the northern road towards the “Zhovtnevyi” neighborhood. The start of these actions is hindered by the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ continued control over the Kalynivka area and the area where the Siversky Donets – Donbas canal intersects with the T0504 highway. The capture of these strongholds might be assigned to the 98th Airborne Division and the 200th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 14th Army Corps in the Kalynivka area.
  • If the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps captures Kalynove and reaches the road south of Stara Mykolaivka, the enemy will increase pressure on New York from both the south and the east, primarily in the direction of Yuryivka and Oleksandropil. The main forces of the newly formed 27th Motorized Rifle Division of the 2nd Guards Army – the 506th and 589th Motorized Rifle Regiments – will be used for this purpose. These forces are being deployed to the right of the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade’s assault zone and in the area of Mayorsk.
  • The enemy’s military command on the Pokrovsk direction will shift the focus of their main attack closer to the Toretsk district of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, becoming more active in the direction of Kalynove and Oleksandropil, as well as east of Pivnichne.

The occupiers conduct “military-patriotic” training for Yunarmia (youth army) members and the voluntary youth brigade of Melitopol. This includes firearm handling skills, tactical medicine, and political indoctrination. According to the National Resistance Center of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, these activities by “FSB agents in cassocks” have become systematic.
  • Russian invaders continue to remove grain from temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk Oblast, having already taken away over 80 tons from this year’s new harvest.
