Russia’s war on Ukraine. 07.07.2024

In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) “Kharkiv” on the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked nine times near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, and Vovchansk. All aggressor assault actions were successfully repelled.

In the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the enemy tried 6 times to advance near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka. Four enemy attacks were successfully repelled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The battle continues in the area of Synkivka.  On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 19 times in the areas of Nevske, Makiivka, Hrekivka, Terny, and Torske.  On the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted 4 times to break through the Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Spirne and Vyimka, without success. On the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attacked 9 times near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Chasiv Yar, Andriivka, and Ivanivske, all attacks were thwarted. On the Toretsk direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, tried 11 times to carry out assault actions near Toretsk, Zalizne, Pivnichne, and New York. A battle is ongoing near New York.

In the “Tavriya” OSG operational zone, the occupiers were most active onthe Pokrovsk direction. The invaders tried 41 times to break through the defense in the areas of Yuriivka, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Lozuvatske, Prohres, Novoselivka Persha, Yevhenivka, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka.  On the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked 17 times, with the most activity near Kostyantynivka and Paraskoviivka. On the Vremivka direction, 2 enemy assaults were repelled near Vodyane. The occupiers unsuccessfully stormed the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions 4 times on the Orikhiv direction in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, and Novoandriivka.

In the operational zone of the “Odesa” OSG, there were no significant changes on the Prydniprovskiy direction. No positions or territories were lost. Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled one attack by Russian terrorists on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

General conclusion:

  • Russian diversionary and reconnaissance activities are aimed at holding a broader front in the international border zone with units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, although this may be a sign of a future offensive operation by the Russian Armed Forces on the Slobozhansk direction. Russian troops may launch offensive actions from an area 90 km northwest of Kharkiv towards Zolochiv and Bohodukhiv or westward towards villages along the R45 Bohodukhiv-Sumy highway.
  • Russian forces are far from achieving their goal of creating a 15-kilometer buffer zone along the state border on the Kharkiv direction.
  • The enemy is experiencing coordination problems on the Vovchansk direction.
  • The enemy’s “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping has already suffered losses amounting to a third of the losses incurred during their offensive operation to capture Avdiivka.
  • Russian forces on the Pokrovsk direction are focusing on advancing towards Novooleksandrivka and Novoselivka Persha.

Change in the line of contact (LoC):

  • There were 123 combat engagements on various fronts.
  • On the Kharkiv direction, Russian reconnaissance and sabotage groups entered Oleksandrivka and Popivka in Sumy Oblast. Russian forces continued offensive operations in the areas of Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Starytsya, and Vovchansk, attempting to regroup their units.
  • Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted counterattacks in the areas of Lyptsi, Hlyboke, within and near Vovchansk, and near Tykhe.
  • On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces made slight advances east of Pishchane but failed to develop their success due to dense minefields and artillery fire from the Ukrainian Defense Forces in this area. The enemy advanced in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Makiivka, and Hrekivka.
  • On the Lyman direction, battles continued near Terny, Torske, and in the area of the Serebriansk Forest.
  • On the Siversk Direction, units of the 123rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps advanced to the center of Spirne. The enemy continued attacks near Bilohorivka and Vyimka.
  • On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces continued attacks within the eastern outskirts of Chasiv Yar, near Kalynivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka, trying to consolidate their positions along the entire eastern bank of the Siversky Donets-Donbas canal.
  • On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced to the southwestern outskirts of New York, up to 500 meters within the southeastern outskirts of Druzhba, the southern outskirts of Pivnichne, and up to 800 meters within the southern outskirts of New York, pressing on Ukrainian positions near the Zalizna railway station.
  • On the Pokrovsk direction, the 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Army Corps captured Sokil, advanced west of Sokil towards Voskhod. The enemy made slight advances within the eastern outskirts of Karlivka, reached the outskirts of Voskhod, captured half of Yevhenivka, advanced within Novooleksandrivka, towards Lozuvatske and Novoselivka Persha, and continued battles near Vozdvyzhenka, Prohres, Kalynove, Umanske, Netaylove, and Nevelske.
  • On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces advanced within Krasnohorivka by 300-500 meters, conducted offensive actions near Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Kostyantynivka, Paraskoviivka, Vuhledar, and Vodyane.
  • Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked in Paraskoviivka.
  • On the Vremivka direction, positional battles continued in the areas of Staromayorske, Urozhaine, and Makarivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces struck an enemy field camp on the Azov Sea coast southwest of Urzuf.
  • On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces continued attacks near Robotyne, Novodanylivka, east of Mala Tokmachka, and northwest of Verbove.
  • On the Prydniprovskiy direction, Russian forces continued attacks on the left bank of Kherson Oblast, including northwest of Kozachi Laheri and on the islands in the Dnipro River delta.
  • In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
    • Azov Sea: 3 ships, including 0 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 0 cruise missiles.
    • Mediterranean Sea: 2 ships, including 2 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 24 cruise missiles.

Changes in the enemy disposition:

  • Units of the 155th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet operate near Hlyboke. Ukrainian Defense Forces defeated a battalion of the 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 11th Army Corps near Lyptsi.
  • The “Sparta” and “Somali” battalions of the 1st Army Corps are engaged in combat near Yasnobrodivka, while units of the 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 41st Combined Arms Army are fighting on the Avdiivka direction.

Possible operation situation developments:

  • The 252nd Motorized Rifle Regiment and the 237th Tank Regiment of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Division, as well as separate units of the 59th Tank Regiment of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division, are being reinforced by units of the 283rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division. In the near future, they will attempt to capture the crossing over the Chornyi Zherebets River in Makiivka and will attack the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces units in the directions of Makiivka – Nevske and Chervonopopivka – Nevske.
  • The most probable scenario for the assault on Chasiv Yar is considered to be a breakthrough between the T0504 Kostyantynivka – Bakhmut highway and the “Novyi” neighborhood in the direction of the latter, primarily acting with assault groups through the wooded area to the south of the neighborhood. An auxiliary attack direction could be along the northern road towards the “Zhovtnevyi” neighborhood. The start of these actions is hindered by the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ continued control over the Kalynivka area and the area where the Siversky Donets – Donbas canal intersects with the T0504 highway. The capture of these strongholds might be assigned to the 98th Airborne Division and the 200th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 14th Army Corps in the Kalynivka area.
  • If the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps captures Kalynove and reaches the road south of Stara Mykolaivka, the enemy will increase pressure on New York from both the south and the east, primarily in the direction of Yuryivka and Oleksandropil. The main forces of the newly formed 27th Motorized Rifle Division of the 2nd Guards Army – the 506th and 589th Motorized Rifle Regiments – will be used for this purpose. These forces are being deployed to the right of the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade’s assault zone and in the area of Mayorsk.
  • The enemy’s military command on the Pokrovsk direction will shift the focus of their main attack closer to the Toretsk district of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, becoming more active in the direction of Kalynove and Oleksandropil, as well as east of Pivnichne.
