Russia’s war on Ukraine. 15.07.2024

In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) “Kharkiv” on the Kharkiv direction, there were a total of 10 combat clashes. Battles took place near Vovchansk and Hlyboke. The enemy actively used aviation for support.

In the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 enemy attacks near Pishchane and Stelmakhivka. On the Lyman direction, Ukrainain Defense Forces repelled 9 Russian attacks in the areas of Hrekivka and Makiivka. On the Siversk direction, 11 assaults were repelled near Spirne, Bilohorivka, Rozdolivka, and Vyimka. On the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 6 enemy attempts to break through their defense in the areas of Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Andriivka, and Chasiv Yar. On the Toretsk direction, the enemy, with air support, carried out 20 attacks, concentrating efforts towards New York, Pivnichne, and Zalizne.

In the “Tavriya” OSG operational zone, on the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 41 assaults in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Prohres, Novoselivka Persha, and Yasnobrodivka, where the aggressor, with air support, attempted to displace Ukrainian defenders from their positions. On the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Paraskoviivka, Karlivka, and Kostyantynivka, where the enemy attempted to capture the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ fortifications 7 times. On the Vremivka direction, the aggressor carried out 2 unsuccessful assaults near Vodyane and Kostyantynivka.

In the operational zone of “Odesa” OSG on the Prydniprovskiy direction, Defense Forces units repelled 2 enemy attacks in the area of Krynky, with the enemy having no success.

General conclusion: 

• The number of enemy attacks near Lyptsi has decreased, but Russian forces have intensified airstrikes in this area.
• The Russian military command is regrouping troops to continue offensive actions on the Kharkiv direction, transferring assault groups from the 155th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet and the 18th Motorized Rifle Division of the 11th Army Corps from Morokhovets and Krasne to conduct offensive operations in the Hlyboke area.
• In certain sections of the front on the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces are unable to evacuate the wounded, leading to a worsening epidemiological situation.
• On the Chasiv Yar direction, Russian forces operate in small infantry groups supported by artillery and UAVs.

Change in the line of contact (LoC):

• There were 114 combat engagements on various fronts.
• On the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainain Defense Forces drove out units of the 204th Separate Special Purpose Regiment “Akhmat” and regained control over some positions in the northwestern part of Vovchansk, pushing the 245th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 47th Tank Division of the 1st Tank Army away from Sotnytsky Kozachok. Fighting continued near Hlyboke.
• On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces continued offensive actions in the areas of Synkivka, Vilshana, Petropavlivka, Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Berestove, Pishchane, and struck the bridge in Kupyansk with a Kh-38ML missile.
• On the Lyman direction, Russian forces advanced within Makiivka and control the territory in the village up to the Zherebets River. Battles continued near Hrekivka, Makiivka, and Terny.
• On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces continued the offensive near Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka, and Vyimka.
• On the Kramatorsk direction, battles continued near Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka.
• On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced southwest of New York and within Zalizne. Battles continued near Druzhba, Zalizne, Pivnichne, Pivdenne, and New York.
• On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced within the eastern part of Yevhenivka, southeast of Novoselivka Persha, north of Novooleksandrivka, west of Yevhenivka, towards Prohres, near Karlivka and the Karlivka Reservoir, south of Vozdvyzhenka, and continued offensive actions in the areas of Oleksandropil, Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Lozuvatske, Prohres, Novoselivka Persha, Sokil, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka.
• On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces advanced north of Sokil, north of Novoselivka Persha, and are advancing north and south of Yasnobrodivka. Battles continued in the areas of Prohres, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Ocheretyne, Kalynove, Lozuvatske, Novoselivka Persha, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka.
• On the Vremivka direction, combat continued near Krasnohorivka, Pobieda, Paraskoviivka, Kostyantynivka, and Vodyane. Russian forces captured Urozhaine, pushed Ukrainian Defense Forces units from its outskirts, and are clearing the village. Positional battles continued in the areas of Velyka Novosilka, Makarivka, and Staromayorske.
• On the Orikhiv direction, positional combat actions continued in the area of Mala Tokmachka.
• In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
  • Azov Sea: 3 ships, including 0 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 0 cruise missiles.
  • Mediterranean Sea: 1 ship, including 0 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 0 cruise missiles.  

Changes in the enemy disposition:

• In the area of Vovchansk, Russian forces are preparing assault groups from the 138th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 6th Combined Arms Army and the 153rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 47th Tank Division for further offensive actions.
• Units of the Russian 752nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Combined Arms Army operate on the Kupyansk direction.
• The 57th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 5th Combined Arms Army continues to operate near Vuhledar.
• UAV operators from the Special Forces Detachment “Valkyria” of the 4th Military Base of the 58th Combined Arms Army operate on the Zaporizhzhia direction.

Possible operation situation developments:

• On the Kupyansk direction, in the operational zone of the 1st Tank Army, command of the enemy’s “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping will attempt to reach the Oskil River in the Hlushkivka – Zahryzove sector, the Petropavlivka – Kurylivka line, and storm Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi railway junction. This assumption is supported he enemy’s increased activity specifically on the flanks (Synkivka – Petropavlivka and Pishchane – Kolisnykivka directions). To bind the “Khortytsia” OSG forces, the enemy will exert frontal pressure on their positions in the Stepova Novoselivka area.
• The enemy has completed the formation of a tactical group consisting of the 252nd Motorized Rifle Regiment, 237th Tank Regiment of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Division, 283rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, and 59th Tank Regiment of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division. This group will soon attempt to seize the crossing over the Chornyi Zherebets River in Makiivka and attack the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces units in Nevske from the areas of Makiivka and Chervonopopivka.
• The following units will attack through the wooded area of Chasiv Yar with assault groups: the 200th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 14th Army Corps will advance from the Kalynivka area, while the 98th Airborne Division will move between the T0504 Kostyantynivka–Bakhmut highway and the “Novyi” neighborhood, with part of its forces in the “Zhovtnevyi” neighborhood. Their actions will begin with the capture of Kalynivka and securing control over the intersection of the Siversky Donets–Donbas canal and the T0504 highway.

Humanitarian+general:

• More than 2,023 children have been affected in Ukraine due to the full-scale armed aggression by Russia. As of the morning of July 15, 2024, according to official information from juvenile prosecutors, 561 children have died and over 1,462 have been injured to varying degrees.
• According to information provided by the Situation Center of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russian forces shelled 11 regions of Ukraine over the past day. A total of 100 towns and villages and 140 infrastructure objects were attacked with various types of weapons. The number of casualties is being updated/clarified.
• In the morning of July 15, Russian forces struck a residential building in Sadove and hit a car with a drone in Kizomys of Kherson Oblast, injuring two people.
• Russian forces dropped two 250-kilogram guided aerial bombs on Lyman in Donetsk Oblast, injuring five people.
• Due to a period of abnormal heat, electricity consumption in Ukraine has reached a maximum and significantly exceeds the capacity of available generation.
