Russia’s war on Ukraine. 27.07.2024

In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) “Kharkiv” on the Kharkiv direction, there were 10 combat engagements in the areas of Hlyboke, Slobozhanske, and Vovchansk.

In the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the number of enemy attacks was 7. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Tabaiivka, Pishchane, and Stelmakhivka. On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 12 times near Nevske, Novoserhiivka, Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, and in the Serebriansk Forest. On the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 enemy assaults near Verkhnyokamianske and Ivano-Dariivka.  On the Kramatorsk direction, the occupiers attacked 5 times in the areas of Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar. On the Toretsk direction, the enemy, supported by aviation, carried out 19 attacks near Pivnichne, Zalizne, New York, and Toretsk.

In the “Tavriya” OSG operational zoneon the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped 37 enemy assaults in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Tymofiivka, Novoselivka Persha, Vesele, Vovche, and Yasnobrodivka. The highest concentration of enemy attacks was near Novooleksandrivka. On the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 14 attacks near Krasnohorivka, Kostyantynivka, Netaylove, Karlivka, and Paraskoviivka, where the enemy attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses. On the Vremivka direction, the enemy carried out 6 assaults near Staromlynivka, Vodyane, and Kostyantynivka. On the Orikhiv direction, the occupiers continued to try to dislodge Ukrainian Defense Forces units from their positions in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, and Novoandriivka, conducting a total of 7 assaults.

In the operational zone of “Odesa” OSG on the Prydniprovskiy direction, there are no significant changes in the operational situation. The enemy carried out an airstrike on the area of Tyahynka.

General conclusion:

  • The beginning of the offensive operation on Toretsk by the enemy’s “Center” Operational Grouping, with the redeployment of the 27th Motorized Rifle Division from the Avdiivka area to New York, has approximately doubled the operational zone’s front, which has slowed down the advance on the Pokrovsk direction.
  • The use of units of the 90th Tank Division of the 41st Combined Arms Army on the Kurakhove direction, which is operating on the Pokrovsk direction and serves as the operational reserve of the Operational Grouping, indicates a further expansion of the “Center” Operational Grouping’s operational zone to the south and shows the command’s readiness to allocate significant reserves to perform other tactical and operational tasks beyond the operational zone of the “Center” Operational Grouping.
  • The Russian military command in the “Southwest Theater of Operations” is attempting to maintain offensive pressure along the entire front to prevent Ukrainian Defense Forces from gaining the initiative on the battlefield, leading to a slowdown in the advance on both the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions.
  • The Russian military command is ready to expend significant resources and incur heavy losses for limited tactical successes, which will lead to issues with troop combat capability in the mid-term.
  • Enemy cyber units are attempting to gain access to personal computers and other devices used by Ukrainian Defense Forces through malicious software disguised as official military programs, messages, or by hacking secure messaging applications (EMA) such as Telegram, Signal, and WhatsApp. The enemy’s cyber units intend to attack and disable critical Ukrainian infrastructure in the future but are currently focused on undermining the tactical capabilities of Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Change in the line of contact (LoC):

  • There were 122 combat engagements on various fronts.
  • On the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces operated near Sotnytskyi Kozachok but do not have a lasting presence in this village.
  • The enemy’s aviation attacked an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian Defense Forces near Bilopillya in Sumy Oblast with four gliding bombs and carried out bomb strikes near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, and Tykhe.
  • Positional battles continued near Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, and Tykhe.
  • Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked north of Lyptsi, near Hlyboke, and Tykhe.
  • On the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces advanced east of Andriivka, south of Berestove, north of Pishchane, and towards Hlushkivka. Units of the 4th Tank Division of the 1st Guards Tank Army attempt to penetrate Ukrainian defenses near Stelmakhivka and prepare for an assault in this area. The enemy continued offensive actions in the areas of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Tabaiivka, Pishchane, and Stelmakhivka.
  • On the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked near Makiivka, Nevske, Ploshchanka, and in the Serebriansk Forest area.
  • On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces continued their offensive in the areas of Siversk, Verkhnyokamianske, Spirne, Ivano-Dariivka, and Mykolaivka.
  • On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces continued their advance in the areas of Hryhorivka, Mayske, Kalynivka, Ivanivske, and near Chasiv Yar. They crossed the Siversky Donets-Donbas canal near Kalynivka but could not secure positions on the opposite bank.
  • Ukrainian Defense Forces counterattacked in the areas of the canal’s underground sections.
  • On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces advanced up to 200 meters within New York, up to 600 meters towards Oleksandropil, southwest of Yuriivka, within Pivnichne, and Zaitseve.
  • On the Pokrovsk direction, units of the 1453rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 1st Army Corps are consolidating in the eastern part of Yasnobrodivka. Russian forces advanced near Prohres, Lozuvatske, east of Lysychne, east of Vesele, within Vovche, and Novoselivka Persha. They continued offensive actions in the areas of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Tymofiivka, Novozhelanne, and Karlivka.
  • On the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces advanced within the northern and southern parts of Krasnohorivka, up to 700 meters in the eastern part of Kostyantynivka, and continued offensive actions in the areas of Paraskoviivka and Vodyane, and conducted an assault towards Kurakhove.
  • On the Vremivka direction, positional battles continued in the areas of Velyka Novosilka and Rozdolne.
  • On the Orikhiv direction, battles continued near Robotyne. The enemy attacked near Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Yuriivka, and Mala Tokmachka.
  • On the Prydniprovskiy direction, positional battles continued in the area of Krynky, but there were no changes to the front line.
  • In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
    • Black Sea: 1 ship, including 1 cruise missile carriers; the total salvo is 4 cruise missiles.
    • Mediterranean Sea: 2 ships, including 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 16 cruise missiles.
  • Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a missile strike with four ATACMS missiles on the Saky airfield in the occupied Crimea. An aviation ammunition depot and an air defense radar station located 5 km from Shovkove (northwest of Saky) were hit. As a result of the ammunition detonation, three Su-24 bombers were damaged (confirmation pending).

Changes in the enemy disposition:

  • Units of the 11th Separate Engineer Brigade, which includes the “Phoenix” special mining battalion (nuclear ADMs) allegedly operate on the Kharkiv direction.
  • Units of the 106th Airborne Division are active on the outskirts of Pereyizne, and the special rapid response unit of the Russian National Guard “Sumrak” (Ivanovo Oblast) operates near the village of Ivano-Dariivka.
  • The 57th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps and the 238th Artillery Brigade of the 8th Army are engaged near Paraskoviivka. The 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 1st Army Corps is advancing near Krasnohorivka.
  • Reconnaissance units of the 4th Military Base of the 58th Army, including the “Valkyrie” UAV detachment, operate near Kamianske.

Possible operation situation developments:

  • The enemy will attempt to intensify efforts in the central part of Vovchansk towards the Aggregate Plant and along Lenin Street towards the bridge over the Vovcha River or along Khliborobiv Street. We should also expect increased enemy activity in the area between Hatyshche and the railway bridge towards the Vovchansk railway station, which will require crossing the Vovcha River. The enemy will try to join both of its wedges into one bridgehead and attack Starytsya.
  • The enemy will attempt to advance along both banks of the Lypets River from the village of Lukyantsi towards Lyptsi to regain control over its northeastern outskirts. These actions may be accompanied by an enemy attempt to break through towards the Travyanske Reservoir, thereby cutting off the “Kharkiv” OTG units currently fighting for Hlyboke from the village of Lyptsi.
  • On the Kupyansk direction, in the operational zone of the 1st Tank Army, command of the enemy’s “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping will attempt to reach the Oskil River in the Hlushkivka – Zahryzove sector, the Petropavlivka – Kurylivka line, and storm Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi railway junction. To bind the “Khortytsia” OSG forces, the enemy will exert frontal pressure on their positions in the Stepova Novoselivka area.
  • The enemy’s “Yug (South)” Operational Grouping is avoiding a frontal assault on Chasiv Yar over the Siversky Donets-Donbas canal and attempts to advance through Kalynivka to bypass the city of Chasiv Yar from the north, break through Ridkodubya into the railway station area, and force the forward units of the “Khortytsia” OSG to retreat from the “Novyi” and “Zhovtnevyi” neighborhoods.
  • The 55th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade is preparing to intensify offensive actions with at least two battalions and two to three assault groups from a consolidated assault company north of Novooleksandrivka towards Zelene Pole and Baranivka, aiming to support the right flank of the 35th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade that is attempting to capture Vozdvyzhenka. If the enemy achieves success north of Novooleksandrivka, they may also launch an attack towards Kalynove.
