Russia’s war on Ukraine. 07.08.24

In the operational zone of the Ukrainian Operational Group of Forces (OTG) “Kharkiv” on the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defensive lines near Lyptsi, Tykhe, and Vovchansk 8 times. Five attacks were repelled, and three clashes are ongoing.

In the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Group of Forces (OSG) operational zone on the Kupyansk direction, the enemy conducted 2 attacks near Synkivka and Kolisnykivka. On the Lyman direction, Russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions near Terny, Nevske, Makiivka, Torske, and the Serebriansk Forest. On the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped all 16 enemy attacks in the areas of Bilohorivka, Ivano-Dariivka, Verkhnyokamianske, and Pereyizne. On the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy launched 7 attacks near Ivanivske and Chasiv Yar. On the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian troops 14 times near Toretsk, New York, and Pivnichne.

In the “Tavriya” OSG operational zone, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 41 enemy assaults on the Pokrovsk direction. 31 battles took place near Oleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Vesele, Ivanivka, Zhelanne, Komyshivka, Skuchne, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka. On the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian Defense Force positions near Krasnohorivka and Kostyantynivka 7 times. On the Vremivka direction, the enemy attacked toward Vodyane, with the battle ongoing.

In the operational zone of “Odesa” on the Prydniprovskiy direction both enemy assaults were unsuccessful.

General conclusion:

  • Russian forces may encircle Ukrainian Defense units in the eastern part of New York, but their progress is too slow to complete such a maneuver.
  • Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Gerasimov, visited the command post of the enemy’s “Tsentr (Center)” operational group, which may indicate that the Pokrovsk direction is currently a priority for the occupying forces.
  • Russian missile troops launched a missile strike on Kyiv Oblast with four KN-23 ballistic missiles produced by North Korea.
  • On the Sumy direction, both sides have been using the full spectrum of conventional weapons very intensively over the past two days, including combat aviation, artillery, and missile weapons.
  • The enemy’s “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping is bogged down in battles for Vovchansk, but is attempting to break through to the rear of the “Khortytsia” OSG on the Kupyansk direction, Vovchansk – Bilyi Kolodiaz – Velykyi Burluk.
  • Actions of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Sumy direction should be viewed as part of a unified plan to counter the enemy in the Kharkiv and Sumy operational directions.

Change in the line of contact (LoC):

  • There were 107 combat engagements on various fronts.
  • On the Sumy direction, several engagements of varying scale and intensity occurred on the Russian side of the border, resulting in Ukrainian Defense Forces capturing prisoners. Notable tactical directions include towards Zelenyi Shlyakh along the eastern bank of the Snahist River and towards Sudzha along the R-200 road, north of the Oleshnya River. Ukrainian Defense Forces raid units have penetrated 7-7.5 km into enemy territory.
  • On the Kharkiv direction, battles continued to the north and northeast of Kharkiv city, with no changes to the front line. Russian forces continued to advance near Lyptsi, Tykhe, and within Vovchansk.
  • On the Kupyansk direction, fighting persisted near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Berestove, Pishchane, Tabaiivka, Stelmakhivka, and Kolisnykivka.
  • On the Lyman direction, clashes occurred near Makiivka, Nevske, Terny, Torske, and the Serebriansk Forest area.
  • On the Siversk Direction, Russian forces continued their assaults near Siversk without success. Enemy attacks were recorded near Bilohorivka, Verkhnyokamianske, Ivano-Dariivka, Spirne, Vyimka, and Pereyizne.
  • On the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces pressed their offensive around Chasiv Yar, in the “Novyi” and “Zhovtnevyi” neighborhoods, and near Ivanivske but failed to make headway.
  • On the Toretsk direction, Russian troops made minor advances towards Dostoevskogo Street in the northwestern and eastern parts of Pivnichne, within New York, and around Druzhba and Zalizne, conducting assaults near Panteleimonivka.
  • On the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces advanced west of Vesele, east of Zhelanne, south of Novoselivka Persha, and near Lozuvatske, conducting assaults in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Serhiivka, Skuchne, Yasnobrodivka, Kalynove, and Kalynivka.
  • On the Kurakhove direction, Russian troops continued their offensive near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Kostyantynivka, Paraskoviivka, and Vodyane.
  • On the Vremivka direction, Russian forces maintained their attacks near Rozdolne, attempting to seize control of the forest strip near Urozhaine.
  • On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces advanced up to 1.5 km east of Robotyne and captured Ukrainian positions northwest of Verbove. Battles continued near Robotyne.
  • In the Black Sea-Azov naval operational area, the enemy naval group on combat duty consists of:
    • Black Sea: 1 ship, including 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 4 cruise missiles.
    • Mediterranean Sea: 2 ships, including 1 cruise missile carrier; the total salvo is 16 cruise missiles.

Changes in the enemy disposition:

  • Assault groups from the 11th Tank Regiment of the 18th Motorized Rifle Division, 11th Army Corps are operating near Hlyboke. The 380th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 47th Tank Division, 1st Tank Army, is engaged in battles near Lukyantsi.
  • The “Lavinia” battalion of the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, 1st Army Corps, is active near Horlivka.
  • The enemy’s “Sever (North)” Operational Grouping includes the 6th Army (25th and 138th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades, fighting in Vovchansk), 11th Army Corps (18th Motorized Rifle Division and 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment), 44th Army Corps (72nd Motorized Rifle Division and 128th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade), 14th Army Corps (80th and 200th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades, mainly deployed on the Kherson and Kramatorsk directions respectively), 155th Separate Marines Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, 83rd Separate Air Assault Brigade, and 2nd Separate SOF Brigade. The grouping consists of up to 75,000 personnel, about 350 tanks, 770 armored fighting vehicles, 820 artillery guns and mortars, and 160 multiple rocket launchers.
  • Units of the 71st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division, 58th Army are deployed on the Sudzha direction.

Possible operation situation developments:

  • The enemy will attempt to advance along both banks of the Lypets River from the village of Lukyantsi towards Lyptsi to regain control over its northeastern outskirts. These actions may be accompanied by an enemy attempt to break through towards the Travyanske Reservoir, thereby cutting off the “Kharkiv” OTG units currently fighting for Hlyboke from the village of Lyptsi.
  • On the Kupyansk direction, in the operational zone of the 1st Tank Army, command of the enemy’s “Zapad (West)” Operational Grouping will attempt to reach the Oskil River in the Hlushkivka – Zahryzove sector, the Petropavlivka – Kurylivka line, and storm Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi railway junction. To bind the “Khortytsia” OSG forces, the enemy will exert frontal pressure on their positions in the Stepova Novoselivka area.
  • In the near future, “Tavriya” OSG units will be forced to retreat westward beyond the Vovcha River under simultaneous pressure from the enemy’s 27th Motorized Rifle Division, 90th Tank Division, and 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade. There is a high probability of an enemy breakthrough between Mezhove and Skuchne in the general direction of Komyshivka.
  • The command of the enemy’s 150th Motorized Rifle Division and 110th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade is preparing to continue the offensive along the Krasnohorivka – Hostre railway in the near future, provided the situation stabilizes in the area of Pobieda village.
