Ever since Russia’s full-scale invasion on Ukraine started, Western media were flooded with headlines labelling it ‘Putin’s war on Ukraine’ referring to the leadership’s personal responsibility only. The discussion whether or not Russia’s society bears responsibility remains topical even a year since the all-out war broke out. Many Western observer discard any ideas of collective responsibility putting it down to Ukrainian exaggeration and emotions running high. This article is about why this is not only factually wrong but also poses a threat to international security.
